two separate SMF forums same server?

Is it possible to have two separate (different topics and members) SMF forums installed on the same server. And if possible is it a bad idea?

as long as they are in different directories, yes.

e.g.
mysite.com/forum1
mysite.com/forum2

I suggest two separate Databases -- but, technically, you COULD use the same database with different prefixes for the two SMF installs
